A. J. Jacobs: The Know-It-All: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World
I love A.J. Jacobs. He's the best!
Laurie Notaro: Autobiography of a Fat Bride: True Tales of a Pretend Adulthood
Hilarious from beginning to end!
Elizabeth Gilbert: Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia
This book rocked my world. Completely.
Aidan Hartley: The Zanzibar Chest
This book has stayed with me (a year later). It's an incredible story. The author is a reporter in Africa. He was in Somalia and Rwanda. The stories are harrowing and heartbreaking.
Robert Fisk: The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East
I'm only 150 pages in, but it's going to be on my recommonded list for a long time. Everyone should read this book if they want to understand the middle east.
Eric Blehm: The Last Season
The true story of a backcountry Ranger in the Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Forests who went missing. I read about it on Powells.com when the author was a guest blogger. Great so far.
anderson cooper: Dispatches from the edge
I've been waiting for this book to come out . It was a good as I thought it would be. Can I just say that I love Anderson Cooper? Yeah, it's weird, I know. But I do.
Anne Garrels: Naked in Baghdad : The Iraq War and the Aftermath as Seen by NPR's Correspondent
This ended up being beyond good. Thanks for the recommondation, Becky. I loved it. Ann Garrels does a good job of pointing out that we operate under such delusions when it comes to foreign policy.
Mark Bowden: Guests of the Ayatollah
It's about the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979. I barely remember this. This book totally rocks. Bowden really did his homework.
Emma Larkin: Finding George Orwell in Burma
This book is as good as I expected it to be. Everyone should read this and 1984. Right Now. Today. I read this as a harbinger of things to come in this country if we don't do something.
Lance Armstrong: It's Not About The Bike
I re-read this recently. He's my hero.
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King
Dave Matthews Band: Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King
Stan Getz: The Essential Stan Getz: The Getz Songbook
I love Stan Getz. Romantic and quiet and lovely.
Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
How I could have omitted this I don't know. Love this cd. This cd turned me into a jazz fan.
The Clash: Essential Clash
The best band ever. I love the Clash. "Train In Vain" is one of the best songs ever.
Dave Matthews: Live at Fenway Park, Boston MA
Great concert. I wish I could have been there.
John Legend: Once Again
Love him. This cd is awesome.
Maroon 5: It Won't Be Soon Before Long
I love, love love this cd. I totally dig Maroon 5.
Audioslave: Audioslave
This is one of the best cds ever. Hands down. I love this disc. Definitely a desert island disc.
G Love: Lemonade
I love the G Love
Various Artists: Music from the Motion Picture Swingers
Love the music. Love the movie.
Jack Johnson: In Between Dreams
Between his voice and Dave Matthews', I don't need anything else.
The Clash: London Calling
The best album of the 80s, according to Rolling Stone. I love it. I love the Clash.
Bob Marley: Legend
It's Bob. 'Nuff said
Dave Matthews Band: Stand Up
I really dig this cd. It took a while to grow on me, but I like it.
Audioslave: Out of Exile
Quite possibly the best album of last year. Saw them in concert - there aren't words to descibe it. Except to say mindblowing.
Giada De Laurentiis: Everyday Pasta
You just can't go wrong with Giada. I haven't had a probelm with one of her recipes. The Butternut Squash Tortelloni is rockin' good food.
Irma S. Rombauer: Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006
I just got this book. I've just start reading it. Looks like several things I'm going to have to try.
Martha Stewart Living Magazine: The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook
Mario Batali: Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes to Cook at Home
Ina Garten: Barefoot Contessa Parties! Ideas and Recipes for Easy Parties That Are Really Fun
My pizza dough recipe is in here. Along with my vegetable pot pie recipe. Yum.
Ina Garten: The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook
To me, this is the Bible of cooking. Forget Julia Child. Forget Emeril. Forget everyone else. I have made a dozen or so recipes and I haven't screwed anything up or had bad food yet. And this is coming from someone who refuses to cook anything without a recipe. Ina rocks!!!
Ina Garten: Barefoot Contessa at Home: Everyday Recipes You'll Make Over and Over Again
I've only tried one recipe in this book so far. And it was good. Her recipes are always good.
Martha Stewart: Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook
The Bible of baking. 'Nuff said.
Giada De Laurentiis: Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes
The turkey meatball recipe rocks. The Raspberry Tirmasu is good (I would suggest omitting the Grand Marnier - too much alcohol taste.)
Giada De Laurentiis: Giada's Family Dinners
Three words - Butternut Squash Lasagna
Ina Garten: Barefoot in Paris: Easy French Food You Can Make at Home
